Aili R. Sikkila, 86, formerly of New Ipswich, New Hampshire peacefully went home to be with the Lord on July 9, 2018 after a courageous battle with lifelong health issues.
Aili was born in Ishpeming, Michigan on June 5,1932, daughter of the late Edward and Amalia (Hill) Sikkila. She lived in Covington, Michigan until 1977 when she moved to NH where she resided until she passed into her eternal rest. Even though she suffered illness her entire life, she was able to enjoy gardening during her younger years and was known for her beautiful flower gardens. She loved to bake and made excellent bread and many other Finnish pastries. She was proficient in knitting and crocheting. She was never able to drive but she loved to go for walks and was very sociable. She is sadly missed by her family and friends who share loving memories of Aili.
In addition to her parents, Aili was preceded in death by her siblings, Edwin Sikkila, Bernhardt Sikkila, Arvid Sikkila and Martha Seppanen.
Aili is survived by her brother, Wilfred Sikkila and his wife Phyllis of New Ipswich, NH; her two sisters; Theresa Aunio of Thomasville, NC, and Ruth Gedenberg and her husband Leonard of Greer, SC; her sister-in-law, Ella Sikkila of Covington, MI and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Family and friends are warmly invited to calling hours Tuesday, July 24, 2018 from 10:00 to 11:00AM in the Apostolic Lutheran Church, 117 Goen Road, New Ipswich, NH.
Funeral Services will immediately follow calling hours at 11:00AM. Burial will take place in Smithville Cemetery, Binney Hill Road, New Ipswich.
