Alan Merrill Blauvelt

Alan Merrill Blauvelt, 58 of Lakewood Drive, Jaffrey died Thursday September 6, 2007 at his home after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

He was born on January 28, 1949 in Winchester, Massachusetts, son of Merrill M. and Valerie (Jean) Blauvelt. Alan was a 1967 graduate of Reading (MA) High School and had served with the United States Navy in the Naval Air Force from 1968 to 1972.

Alan worked as a long distance truck driver hauling double trailers cross-country for many years. Later he pursued his interest in woodworking by becoming a finish carpenter and working throughout California. This interest progressed further when he opened his own logging business called Als Saw Shop and he continued to operate the business until becoming ill and moving to Jaffrey to be with his family.Alan was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed hunting, fishing and target practicing. He also enjoyed spending time in his camper and flying. He was a member of the Monadnock Rod and Gun Club.

Alan was preceded in death by his father, Merrill Blauvelt, on July 6, 2006.

He is survived by his mother, Valerie Blauvelt of Jaffrey; his sister Nancy B. Pipitone also of Jaffrey; his brother Ronnie E. Blauvelt of Thonatosassa, Florida; his daughter Jozana Carter of New Sharon, Iowa; his sons Joshua and Micah Blauvelt, both of Orem, Utah; a grandson and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

At Alans request, there will be no calling hours and funeral services will be private.
