Albion “Skip” Lane, 72, went home to be with the Lord on March 26, 2021 after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born in Peterborough, NH on December 2, 1948, son of the late Albion and Betty Lane, and was a 1967 graduate from the former Peterborough High School.
Skip worked locally for Honeywell at first before joining the Jaffrey Police Department and becoming a certified police officer. He later worked for the towns of Peterborough and Dublin before becoming the Chief of Police for the town of Greenfield. He retired in 1989 and soon began working at Walmart in Rindge, where he remained for the past 27 years.
Skip enjoyed sports at all levels. He was an avid Yankees and Green Bay Packers fan and also enjoyed NASCAR, rooting for Bobby Labonte. Through the years, Skip volunteered with the food pantry at the Jaffrey Assembly of God Church, helping so many in the community. It is felt that his legacy would be that he esteemed others more important than himself.
Skip was a strong advocate and supporter of the group ‘Parents Of Murdered Children’ after the tragic loss of his son Craig on February 8, 1989.
Skip is survived by his wife of 30 years, Edith (Allsobrooks) Lane of Jaffrey, and by his children, Michelle Fillmore of Watertown, Wisconsin, Christine E. Ford of International Falls, Minnesota, Tracey D. Buchanan of Leominster, MA, David R. Buchanan, II of Jaffrey, NH, and Gerald E. Buchanan of Greenfield, NH; 13 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren and many nieces nephews and good friends
Abiding by Skip’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or formal services at this time, but he will be remembered as a celebration of life to be held later.
In lieu of flowers, please consider making memorial contributions in Skip’s name to the Good Neighbor Fund, PO Box 486, Jaffrey, NH 03452.
