ALDIA J. BLAIS, 87, of Jaffrey died Sunday October 7, 2007 at the Good Shepherd Healthcare Center in Jaffrey after a brief illness. Mrs. Blais was born on June 24, 1920 in Jaffrey, New Hampshire, daughter of the late Felix and Florina (Dubois) Sirois. She was a 1938 graduate of Conant High School and a lifelong resident of this community. For many years she had helped at her familys farm, the Overview Farm, near Pierce Crossing in Jaffrey. Later she worked at D.D. Bean & Sons in Jaffrey, New Hampshire Ball Bearing in Peterborough and at the Monadnock Ledger. Mrs. Blais then became a day care provider for many families in the Jaffrey area and was affectionately known as Memere to all. She was a communicant of Saint Patrick Church in Jaffrey and enjoyed all handcrafts in her spare time, especially sewing and knitting. Most recently, Mrs. Blais enjoyed traveling back and forth between her childrens homes in Jaffrey and Alaska and enjoying all of the wonderful times spent with her family made possible by this new passion for traveling. She will be fondly remembered for her gentle kindness and quiet generosity. Mrs. Blais was the last remaining sibling of her family of 13 brothers and sisters. She was preceded in death by her sisters, Annie DeGrandpre, Evelina Cloutier, Eva Coll and Lena Koski; and by her brothers, Alfred, William, Amedee, Arthur, Henry, Ferdinand, Louis and Archie Sirois. She was also preceded in death by her husband Wilfred J. Blais on January 13, 1989. Mrs. Blais is survived by her daughter Elaine F. Hautanen of Jaffrey and her son Wilfred F. Blais of Delta Junction, Alaska; 3 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren, and many nieces, nephews and cousins, including Felix Cloutier of Jaffrey who she grew up with.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Mrs. Blais name to Saint Patrick School, 70 Main Street, Jaffrey, NH, 03452

Burial will be later at the family lot in Saint Patrick Cemetery in Jaffrey.

Family and friends are warmly invited to calling hours on Wednesday, October 10, 2007 from 6:00PM to 8:00PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Route 202) Jaffrey.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Thursday, October 11, 2007 at 11:00 AM at Saint Patrick Church, 89 Main Street, Jaffrey. Rev. Gerald R. Belanger will be the celebrant.
