Alfred D. DeBlois

Alfred “Mike” DeBlois, 84, of Peterborough Road, Hancock died peacefully Saturday June 23, 2012 at the home of his daughter, following a period of failing health. He was born October 29, 1927 in Clinton, MA son of the late Alfred A. and Elizabeth (Flanagan) DeBlois. He attended Clinton and Lancaster schools and following high school had serves with the United States Navy during World War II. In his younger years he had been a member of the Clinton Police Department and had also owned a diner in Clinton. He retired in 1989 following thirty years of employment with Massachusetts Electric (now known as National Grid). Mr. DeBlois had lived in Hancock for the past five years and previously had lived in Clinton, MA for forty one years and Leominster MA for 38 years. He was a parishioner of St. John the Evangelist Parish in Clinton and since moving to Hancock has attended St. Peters Church of the Divine Mercy Parish in Peterborough. He was a member of Cheney-Armstrong American Legion Post #5, of Peterborough. Mr. DeBlois enjoyed stamp collecting, playing the organ, fall foliage and Daisy the family dog. His wife of thirty five years, Mildred G. (Blair) DeBlois dies April 1, 2007. Survivors include his daughter Karen Baird and her son Stephen of Hancock, with whom he had lived; and his other children Michael, James, Brenda, Donna, Sandra. He was pre-deceased by his sister Natalie Bosco and his granddaughter Stephanie Baird.

Burial will be held at the convenience of the family in the family lot at St. John’s Cemetery, Lancaster, MA.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that Masses be offered for the repose of his soul.

At the request of the family, there will be no calling hours.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held Saturday June 30, 2012 at 1:00PM in St. Peter’s Church of the Divine Mercy Parish, 18 Vine Street, Peterborough. Rev. Gerald “Gerry” Belanger, pastor, will officiate. Military Honors will immediately follow at the Church.
