ALTHEA THEA YON, 83, of Kinsman Road in Fitzwilliam died Tuesday November 18, 2008 at Langdon Place in Keene following a period of declining health.
She was born August 26, 1925 in St. Johnsbury, VT daughter of the late Orange and Frances (Hebard) Ladd.
Thea was a 1945 graduate of Green Mountain College in St. Johnsbury. She has been a resident of Fitzwilliam since 1955. Thea was a former employee of American Optical in Keene; and from 1975 until 2006, she worked at the Frank Massin Insurance Agency in Fitzwilliam.
Thea was a very active member of the Fitzwilliam Community Church, UCC and was the church organist for more than forty five years. The church honored her as Organist Emeritus this past July. She enjoyed knitting and needle-work. She loved animals and especially her dog. Thea took pleasure in going to concerts and in her flower gardens.
Survivors include her step-son Carmen M. Yon of Fitzwilliam; her step-daughter Portia E. Yon of Alpharetta, Georgia; seven step-grandchildren Carmen M. Yon, Jr. of Englewood Colorado, Eric R. Yon of Poughkeepsie, NY, Eric Rasmussen of Moyock, NC, Amy Rasmussen of Smyrna, GA, Andrew H. Yon of Centennial, Colorado; Adam Killen of Pooler, GA and Morgan Killen of Pensacola, FL; six step-great-grandchildren, Tifffany Payne of Moyock, NC, Emily Payne of Moyock, NC, Kaitlyn Rasmussen of Gulf Breeze, FL, Nathaniel Rasmussen of Belle Chase, LA, Carmen M. Yon III and Natalie Clair Yon both of Englewood Colorado.
She was pre-deceased by her first husband John Carpenter and her second husband Howard G. Yon.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Fitzwilliam Community Church UCC, Organ Fund, Post Office Box 510, Fitzwilliam, NH 03447 Attention of Jane Wright.
Burial in the Fitzwilliam Village Cemetery will be at the convenience of the family.
As per her request, there will be no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held Saturday November 29, 2008 at 11:00AM in the Fitzwilliam Community Church UCC, General James Reed Highway (Route 119), Fitzwilliam. Rev. Lynda T. Tolton, pastor and friend, will officiate.
