Ann Parker Chase

Ann Parker Chase, 89, died peacefully in her husband's arms in Peterborough on November 28, 2013. She was born to the late Dr. Ralph J. Parker and Ruth Stratton Parker on September 9, 1924 in Keene, NH. Ann graduated from Keene High School in 1942 and received a BA degree from the University of New Hampshire in 1946.

Ann married her high school sweetheart Dr. Robert A. Chase in 1946 during his residency at Yale University Medical School. Bob's active duty in the U.S. Army required moves for the young couple to Monmouth, New Jersey and Valley Forge Army Hospital in Pennsylvania before a return to New Haven where Bob completed his surgery training. During these years their three children were born.

The next army assignment was Italy where the family spent three years before returning to New Haven, then Pittsburgh, and in 1963 the family moved to Palo Alto, California, where they made their home for the next 47 years with interim time away in Philadelphia and Boston.

During their life together Ann and Bob traveled extensively in numerous foreign lands such as South Africa, Saudi Arabia, Thailand, the British Isles, Australia, New Zealand, and throughout Europe and especially Italy, their favorite.

Throughout their many moves and travels, Ann and Bob maintained their New Hampshire roots and held many family gatherings at their Woodbine Farm in Jaffrey. Ann was a gifted writer with a deep appreciation for art, and she nurtured her family and had a profound influence on her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.

Ann is survived by her husband Bob and their three children, Deborah Chase and Nancy Chase of Grass Valley, California; and Robert N. Chase, of Killingworth, Connecticut; and nine grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10, at RiverMead in Peterborough. There will be a memorial celebration for family and friends in California in January.
