Ann Worcester Walsh, 83, of Dublin, NH died in her sleep on Thursday, August 25th, 2016 after living with multiple sclerosis for the past decade.
On October 11, 1932, Ann was born in Peterborough to Dorothy Emmes Worcester and Millard Morse “Spook” Worcester of Dublin. She spent her pre-school years gardening and discovering the region’s natural resources with her father and learning its rich cultural history at the Dublin Public Library with her mother. Her deep life perspective of the importance of place never changed. After attending Dublin Consolidated School and Northfield School for Girls (Northfield Mt. Hermon), Ann met her husband, Daniel John Walsh, (d.2006) at the University of New Hampshire. They married in 1951 in Durham, NH. She spent the next 30 years traveling around the country and Europe as the wife of a distinguished Army Officer, representing our country with distinction and pride.
She is survived by her daughter, Susan Walsh Petty and her husband, David, of Annapolis, MD; her son Michael Daniel Walsh and his wife, Sarah Warren, of Jefferson, NH; and her grandsons, Brendan Meyer Walsh of Kittery, ME, Ryan Meyer Walsh of Dublin, NH, John David Petty of Philadelphia, PA, and Will Worcester Petty of Annapolis, MD; also by her brother Michael Worcester and his wife Dolores of Dublin, her sisters-in-law Claire Walsh of Portsmouth, NH and Kathleen Walsh of Wareham, MA, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
Her community life extended to the Dublin Community Church and its choir, the Town of Dublin as a Selectman and Budget Committee member, the Dublin Women’s Community Club and Beach, Southwestern Regional Planning, Worcester’s Garage proprietor, antiquing, and dancing with the Monadnock Squares.
The memorial service will be held at the Dublin Community Church on Saturday, September 3rd at 11:00 am.
