Anna M. Chute

ANNA M. CHUTE, 94 of Forest Road, Greenfield, died Friday, January 11,2008 at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough following a long period of failing health.She was born June 4, 1913 in Greenfield daughter of the late Walter and Annie (Cuddihee) Swinington.Being a life long resident of Greenfield, Mrs. Chute attended local schools and was a1932 graduate Milford High School.Mrs. Chute had served the Town of Greenfield as Town Clerk and Tax Collector for thirty-two years.She also drove school bus for the Peterborough School District for forty years. She and her husband owned and operated the Town and Country store in Greenfield. Mrs. Chute worked as a bookkeeper at Vannis Store in Peterborough as well as at Cragins Garage in Greenfield.She also worked in Public Relations at Crotched Mountain Rehabilitation Center in Greenfield for thirteen years.Mrs. Chute was a member of the Greenfield Historical Society and the Greenfield Womans Club. She was a member of both the Crotched Mountain Ridge Runners Snow-Mobile Club in Greenfield as well as the Pleasant Pond Snow-Mobile Club in Francestown. And she was a member of the Greenfield Grange.She is survived by her husband of sixty-three years, John D. Chute of Greenfield; as well as several nieces and nephews, especially Joanne Fairfield of Greenfield.

Spring burial will be in the family lot in Greenvale Cemetery, Greenfield.

Calling hours will be Tuesday from 3:00 to 6:00 PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Route 202 south) in Jaffrey.

Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Wednesday at 2:00PM.Rev. Daniel F. Osgood pastor of the Greenfield Congregational Covenant Church will officiate.
