Anthony 'Tony' D'Ambrosio

Anthony ‘Tony’ D'Ambrosio, 86, of Peterborough, and formerly of Rindge, NH, died peacefully at his home on Monday, January 22, 2024, after a period of failing health.

Tony was born in New York, NY on August 15, 1937, the son of the late Giovanni and Teresa (Santoiemma) D’Ambrosio.  Tony attended schools in New York City, graduating from the School of Commerce and then Bloomfield College in New Jersey.

He served our country faithfully and honorably in the National Guard before joining the working world, eventually retiring in 1995 after being a programmer and salesman as well as vice president of LCS Industries and other direct mail companies.  He had lived in Manhattan and Queens, and later Leonia, New Jersey, before moving north to Rindge, and finally settling in Peterborough, NH.

Tony was an avid hiker. He loved scouting and led scout troops through the years. He enjoyed classical music and sang for the Oratorio Society of New York, especialy enjoying their annual capstone of Handel's Messiah at Carnegie Hall. He also sang with several local chorus groups in the Monadnock region including his churches.  Tony loved reading, with special attention to biographies, history, historical fiction, science and science fiction, but his greatest love was the outdoors in general.  He enjoyed skiing and held many fond memories of hiking in the woods at Nawakwa in New York state.

Tony also took great pride in and truly enjoyed helping others with the technical skills he developed through his lifetime.

He was predeceased by his first wife, Maryalice (Wells) D'Ambrosio in 2009, and by his second wife, Jo Ellen Lindh (Orcutt) D'Ambrosio, who passed away in June of 2021.

Tony is survived by his sons, Ross, and Ken, Ken's wife, Terri Behm, by his brothers, John and Alfred, and his final loving companion, Rosaly Bass.  He will also be missed by all of his friends in the communities in which he lived through the years.

Tony delighted in spending time and sharing life experiences with his grandchildren Brittainy Grillone, her husband, Greg, Hannah Zinn, Liam Gleason, Bella D'Ambrosio, and great-grandson Luca Grillone.  He also enjoyed his stepchildren Kirsten Singleton, and Marcy Wells.

At Tony’s request there will be no calling hours.
