Arlene (Cambra) Poirier, 58, of New Ipswich died suddenly Wednesday, November 21, 2012, at Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon, NH. She was born on February 2, 1954, in Taunton, MA, daughter of Anthony and Irene (Losowski) Cambra of Kissimmee, FL. Arlene was a 1972 graduate of Apponequet Regional High School in Lakeville, Massachusetts. She lived in Lakeville and Freetown, MA, until 1977 and Shirley, MA, from 1977 to 1987, before moving to New Ipswich in 1987. She was a pharmacy technician at Deaconess Nashoba Hospital (which is now Nashoba Valley Medical Center) in Groton, MA, before retiring in 2004. Arlene spent most of her time outdoors, where she enjoyed horseback riding, kayaking, fishing, walking, and camping. She especially cherished time spent with her grandson and loved to teach him all about the joys of living in the country. She spent much time walking on her Timbertop Road, beautifying it and keeping it clean of litter with her husband, Don. Arlene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, aunt, niece, cousin, and friend. She adored her family, as well as many wonderful friends who were considered to be part of her family. She had a contagious smile and always had a kind word for everyone she met. She is survived by her husband of 39 years, Donald Lucien Poirier, of New Ipswich; her parents Anthony and Irene (Losowski) Cambra of Kissimmee, FL; her daughter Christen and her husband Don Leger of New Ipswich, NH; a grandson, Cameron Anthony; two sisters, Cheryl (Cambra) Hayden and her husband Doug Baptiste of Falmouth, MA, and Lori (Cambra) Perez and her partner Lou Botelho of Woodbine, Iowa; many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many close friends.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to CHaD/DHMC Development Office, One Medical Center Drive, Lebanon, NH 03756.
As per request of the family, there will be no calling hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Friday, November 30th at 10:00 AM in Saint Patrick Church, 89 Main Street, Jaffrey, NH. Rev. Wilfred H. Deschamps, Pastor, will officiate.
