Barbara A. Hanson 85, died peacefully on Thursday, January 25, 2018 at the Pheasantwood Center in Peterborough, New Hampshire after a period of failing health.
Barbara was born on August 2, 1932, daughter of the late Charles and Alice (Miller) Blanchette. She was a lifelong resident of Peterborough and had worked at Upland farms for more than 28 years before retiring and caring for many of her grandchildren and extended family members. This passion eventually evolved into ‘Mem’s Daycare’ and she lovingly cared for many friend’s children as well.
Barbara had married Clarence ‘Hap’ Hanson on August 26, 1950. He predeceased Barbara in 1994. Her son Scott also died earlier in 2011.
She is survived by her son Wayne and his wife Marjorie Hanson of Key Largo, Florida; her 2 daughters, Karen Hanson of Sharon, NH and Lorie Snyder of Peterborough, NH; her 2 sisters, Shirley Elliott of Antrim, NH and Francis Venable of Keene, NH; her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Amy and husband Ross Richards, their children Dustin, Garrett and Rowan of Brooksville, Florida; Brian and wife Emily Shaw, his son, Jacoby of Peterborough, NH; Chris Hanson, his partner Kris, his children Jade and Haley of Key Largo, Florida; Scott Shaw of Marlow, NH; Derrik Hanson, his partner Justine, their daughter Grace of Peterborough, NH; Tiffany, & husband, Dave Truglia of Cutchogue Long Island, NY and many cousins, nephews, nieces, extended family & friends and the numerous children “Mem” cared for over the past 25 plus years.
As a member of the Union Congregational Church, 33 Concord Street, Peterborough, NH, a Memorial Service to celebrate Barbara’s life will be held there on April 14, 2018 at 10:00 am with a reception to follow at the church. All are welcome.
Barbara has requested no flowers please. Instead, Memorial Donations may be made in Barbara’s memory to Children’s Haven International, 44 East Minnesota Road, Pharr, Texas 78577, or to an Alzheimer’s or Cancer Charity or Research Facility of your choice.
