BARBARA COOK DURHAM, 94, formerly of Farrar Road in Rindge, died Wednesday February 21, 2007 at the Concord (MA) Healthcare Center, following a period of failing health.

She was born June 14, 1912 in Boston, and had served as a governess during WWII

She has been a resident of Bedford, MA since 1999. Previously had lived in Rindge for over twenty years and before that Andover, MA.

Mrs. Durham was an avid gardener and had great compassion for animals. Most recently she was active in the Fitzwilliam Garden Club, the Cheshire Kennel Club, and served on the Board of Directors at the Monadnock Humane Society.

Her husband of 64 years Dr. Richard A. Durham died March 24, 2002.

Family members include two daughters Katherine Durham of Bedford, MA and Mary D. Keeler of Las Vegas, NV.; and a son Arthur Paul Durham of Los Angeles, CA.

There will be no calling hours.

Private burial at the Cathedral of the Pines in Rindge will be held at the convenience of the family.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Monadnock Humane Society, PO Box 678, Route 10, West Swanzey, NH 03469.

The Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street, Jaffrey is assisting the family.
