Benjamin J. Henault, 97, of New Ipswich, died Sunday, December 19, 2021 at Concord Hospital in Laconia, NH.
He was born in Fitchburg, MA on January 17, 1924, the son of Ephraim and Diana (Barrette) Henault. He married Mildred E. Somero in October 1950. Mildred passed away in January of 2016.
Ben attended trade school in Fitchburg, MA. He was a United States Army Veteran who served during World War II.
He had previously lived in Fitchburg and Townsend, MA, and in New Ipswich, NH. Since July of 2021, he was a resident at the New Hampshire Veterans Home in Tilton, NH. Through the years, he had worked at his brother Eddie’s Esso gas station, Simon Saw & Steel, Electric Motors, Seppela & Aho Construction Company, and Monadnock Fabricators.
Benjamin was a member of the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church of New Ipswich. He enjoyed attending local sporting events and watching New England sport teams. His greatest enjoyment in life was spending time with his family.
Ben was predeceased by his parents, one sister, Constance T. (Henault) Cote, and five brothers; Albert, Herman, Lawrence, Edmund and Robert.
Ben’s family members include four daughters; Rhonda and her husband Thomas Liubakka of New Ipswich, June Nykanen and the late Daniel Lakanen of New Ipswich, Ruth and her husband Warren Clay of Mont Vernon, and Helen and her husband Pekka Peltokangas of New Ipswich; two sons, Benjamin R. Henault and his wife Shirley (Hill), and Stephen J. Henault, both of New Ipswich. He had 24 grandchildren and 43 great-grandchildren; one sister, Marguerite St. Cyr of Fitchburg, MA and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Calling hours for Ben will be held on Wednesday, December 29, 2021, from 4:00 pm to 6:00 pm at the Cournoyer Funeral Home, 33 River Street (US Rte. 202) Jaffrey, NH 03452.
An additional calling hour will be held on Thursday, December 30, 2021, from 10:00 am to 11:00 am in the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church, 34 Beechwood Road, New Ipswich NH 03071.
The funeral service for Ben will immediately follow at 11:00 am in the Independent Apostolic Lutheran Church.
