Betty Ann Chouinard, 72 of Old Tenney Road in New Ipswich died Friday August 20, 2010 at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough following a period of failing health.
She was born November 16, 1937 in Peterborough, daughter of the late Everett W. and Sylvia (Hautanen) Johnson. Betty was a 1955 graduate of Conant High School in Jaffrey. She had been a life long resident of Jaffrey until moving to New Ipswich two years ago.
Betty had formerly worked as a telephone operator for New England Telephone Company; also as a sales representative at New Hampshire Ball Bearing in Peterborough for more than twenty years; and had retired from Millipore Corp in 2000 following ten years of employment.
She loved to travel and with her husband Lester had traveled twice to every state in the Lower Forty Eight. She enjoyed reading, sewing, gardening, cooking, refinishing furniture and computer games.
For nineteen years Betty was married to Warren Ozzie Chouinard who died March 29, 1990.
She is survived by her husband of 18 years Lester W. Parker of New Ipswich, four daughters, Brenda Jean Belliveau of Sandown NH, Debra Jean Shelley of Jaffrey, Pamela Jean Desmarais of Richardsville,VA and Rebecca Jean Sawtelle of Rindge NH; 19 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren ; her brother Everett W. ( Butch) Johnson Jr., of Jacksonville FL; two nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was pre-deceased by her great-granddaughter Jayden Shelley.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Respiratory Therapy Department of Monadnock Community Hospital, Old Street Road, Peterborough NH 03458, or to the Jaffrey-Rindge Memorial Ambulance Fund, Post Office Box 107, Jaffrey NH 03452.
Burial will follow the service in the family lot in Conant Cemetery, Stratton Road, Jaffrey.
As per her request, there will be no calling hours.
Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday August 25 at 2:00PM in The Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Route 202 South) Jaffrey NH.
Rev Elizabeth A. Davis, classmate and pastor of the Peterborough Methodist Church, will officiate.
