Betty J. Pratt, 88, of Gilsum, NH died peacefully at her home on October 24, 2017 surrounded by love.
Betty was born in Gilsum in 1928 to William P. Johnson and Gladys (Mosher) Johnson. Betty graduated from Vilas High School and enjoyed many years of class reunions. She married Bob Pratt in 1947 and they had three children. In addition to working hard as a homemaker, Betty also worked at American Optical and at the Keene clinic. After Bob’s death in 1997, Betty was fortunate to find love again with Raymond Mooney.
Betty lived in Gilsum her entire life and was devoted to preserving the memories and history of the town. She served the town in a variety of capacities including as a longtime town clerk and tax collector, and for many years she served as the Gilsum Historical Society’s president.
Betty is survived by her long-time partner Raymond Mooney, her son, Gail Pratt and his wife Beth, her daughter, Robyn Nattila and her husband Steve, and her daughter-in-law Elaine Pratt. Her grandchildren, Deborah Duffy, Michael Pratt, Jennifer Pratt, Jeremiah Pratt, and Jessica Wright, and eight great grandchildren including “her little guy”, Kamden. She is also survived by her brothers Dale Johnson and his wife Merrylin and William (Bill) Johnson and his wife Patricia, as well as her many nieces and nephews, devoted friends and caregivers.
Betty was predeceased by her parents, her husband, Robert F. Pratt, her son, Robert B. Pratt, and her brother, Neil Johnson.
At Betty’s request, there will be no calling hours.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, November 4, 2017 at 11:00am in the Gilsum Congregational Church, 13 Main Street, Gilsum, NH 03448. Rev. James Berry, Pastor, will officiate.
