Betty M. Little

Betty M. Little, 71, of Jaffrey, NH died on October 17, 2009 at her home surrounded by her family after a long battle with liver disease.

She was born on September 21, 1938 in Washburn, ME, the daughter of Lloyd and Cecelia (Moser) Doody.

She had worked as a bookkeeper most of her life and had retired in 2008 after working for many years alongside her daughter in her daughters accounting business in Jaffrey, NH.

Betty was a Girl Scout and Brownie leader; she coached girls softball, and was a member of American Legion Post #361 Womans Auxiliary. She was an avid reader and she loved spending time with her grandchildren.

She leaves 3 daughters, Shannon Little and her companion Rick Tolland of Fitchburg, MA, Kelly and her husband David Ward of Weare, NH, and Kork Little and her companion Steven Gauthier of Rindge, NH; six grandchildren, Michelle, Carolanne, Nicholas, Shawn, Martha, and Jacob; two great-grandchildren Desire` and Felicia; her sister Joyce Plumber of Fort Fairfield, ME; two brothers, Laurel Ted Doody of Fort Fairfield, ME, and Lloyd Jack Doody of Portland, ME; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. Betty was preceded in death by her brother Jean Doody.

The family would like to thank all those who assisted us with her care. We would like to thank the people at Good Shepherd Nursing Home for helping with moms rehabilitation so she could come home. She could make life interesting at times but you knew that when you got to the door and looked back over your shoulder she would be grinning at you because she was just messing around. We would like to thank the staff on the second floor of Monadnock Hospital who always treated our mom with great respect and loving care. Mom would amaze them with her speedy recoveries.

Burial will be in Maine at a later date following cremation.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, October 22, 2009 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street (Route 202) in Jaffrey, NH.
