Caroline N. Kolapakka, 87, of Troy and formerly of New Ipswich, NH, died peacefully on Thursday, January 2, 2014 with her daughters by her side at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough after a brief illness.
Mrs. Kolapakka was born on March 2, 1926 in Jaffrey, daughter of the late John E. and Dorothy A. (Smith) LaFreniere. She was a graduate of Conant High School and had lived in New Ipswich until moving to Troy only seven years ago.
She had worked at the American Guernsey Cattle Club in Peterborough before marrying Sulo Kolapakka Jr. in 1947 and going to work at Lizotte’s Market in Greenville for many years. Later she worked at Gram’s Place Restaurant until retiring in 1995.
Mrs. Kolapakka had been a member of the Women’s Auxiliary of the former New Ipswich American Legion Post. She enjoyed word search puzzles and being an armchair contestant in numerous game shows. She always loved fresh flowers.
Mrs. Kolapakka was preceded in death by her husband ‘Sonny’ Kolapakka in 1999, her son Larry Kolapakka in 1973, and her daughter Wendy Nickson in 2009. Her sister Marie Hunt died in 2009 and her brother John A. LaFreniere died in 2011.
She is survived by her 2 daughters; Carol and her husband Arthur Niskala of Gilford, NH, and Lyn and her husband Alan Starcher of New Ipswich, NH; 6 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; 3 great-great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
There will be no calling hours or funeral services at this time. Graveside services will take place in the Spring at the family lot in Smithville Cemetery in New Ipswich.
