Catherine E. ‘Kitty’ Donovan, 90, died peacefully on Sunday April 2, 2017 at the Good Shepherd Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Jaffrey after a period of failing health.
She was born on November 1, 1926 in Peterborough, NH, and lived most of her life in Peterborough before moving to Jaffrey. She was the daughter of the late Francis and Lillian (Martell) Furlong and was educated locally and at the Goffstown High School.
Kitty had worked as a machine operator and in final inspection at New Hampshire Ball Bearing in Peterborough and retired after working for more than 39 years there.
Kitty was a communicant of Divine Mercy Church and always attended Mass at Good Shepherd. She was a Life Member of the Jaffrey Memorial VFW Post #5613 Women’s Auxiliary and enjoyed reading and solving puzzles, in addition to spending time with friends.
She was married to Joseph T. Donovan. He predeceased her on October 2, 1999.
Kitty is survived by her extended family and many close friends.
At Kitty’s request, there will be no visiting hours.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 18, 2017 at 11:00AM in the Chapel at Good Shepherd Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, 20 Plantation Drive, Jaffrey, NH 03452. Rev. Wilfred Deschamps, Pastor of Saint Patrick Church in Jaffrey will be the celebrant. Burial will take place in her family’s lot at Pine Hill Cemetery in Peterborough.
Flowers are welcomed, or memorial donations may also be made in memory of Kitty to the Good Shepherd Activities Fund, 20 Plantation Drive, Jaffrey, NH 03452.
