Cathy Louise Houghtaling

Cathy Louise Houghtaling, 65, of Rindge, died peacefully on January 7, 2021 at Pheasant Wood Center, following a period of declining health.

Cathy was born on June 27, 1955, daughter of the late Leo and Mary (Schraffa) Feller. She grew up in Burlington, MA and was a 1973 graduate of Burlington High School. She married her husband, Rick Houghtaling, in 1979 and their family lived in Pepperell, MA before settling in Rindge in 1990.

Cathy was a devoted mother to Melissa and Michael. She cared deeply for her children and was active in their childhood activities. Her love for young children eventually led her to roles at Rindge Memorial School and a daycare center. She had a special place in her heart for animals, especially dogs, and adopted several rescue dogs into the family.

Cathy is survived by her husband of 41 years, Rick; daughter Melissa; son Michael; three grandsons, Connor, Nicholas, and Sawyer; brother Warren; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins.

A burial will be held Monday, September 13, 2021 at 1:00 pm in the Hillside Cemetery, Goddard Rd, Rindge NH. Friends and family are welcome. In honor of her love for animals, donations in her name can be made to the Monadnock Humane Society, 101 W. Swanzey Rd, Swanzey, NH 03446.
