Charles W. Dignan

Charles “Chuck” W. Dignan, 70, of Jaffrey entered into rest February 10, 2012, at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough . Born in Norwood, MA, August 20, 1941, he was the son of the late Charles and Alice (Seavey) Dignan. He was also the step-son of the late Ruth Dignan. A son Charles W. Jr. predeceased him. Chuck attended Appleton Academy in New Ipswich and Fitchburg High School prior to serving his country in the Army National Guard. He was self-employed as a contractor and in later years as a “disaster” insurance adjuster. He was a long time resident of Jaffrey and New Ipswich. Chuck was a member of the Jaffrey American Legion Post 11 and auxiliary member of the VFW Post 5613. He was an avid football, Nascar and motorcycle enthusiast. His family includes his daughter Alice Casavant and her children Nicholas and Christa, of Gardner, MA, his brothers Ernest and his wife Carol of Edgewater, FL and Laurence and his wife Lynne of Gardner, MA. He also leaves his stepbrothers Douglas and Dorothy Baker of Del Ray, Florida and Richard and Kathy Baker of Swampscott, MA, his former wife and close friend Marilyn Vose and his step-children Ron Houston of Holly Springs, NC and Shannon Couture of Spring Lake, NC and their families and very special friends the Hunt Family of Jaffrey, NH. Donations in memory of Chuck may be made to the Wounded Warrior Project at woundedwarriorproject.org.
