Charlie ‘Beatle’ McDonald, 64, of Jaffrey, died suddenly and unexpectedly on Sunday November 6, 2011 at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough. Charlie was born in Concord, NH on August 19, 1947, son of the late Robert and Louise (Lyman) McDonald. He had graduated from Conant High School in 1965 before serving his country in the U.S. Navy from 1966 to 1970. He was stationed at Paris Island and on the U.S.S. Essex and had taken part in retrieving the Apollo 13 capsule when it splashed down. Charlie was a member of the John Humiston Post #11 American Legion in Jaffrey, and the Chief Steward and Men’s Auxiliary Member of the Jaffrey Memorial VFW Post #5613 in Jaffrey. After his honorable discharge from the Navy, Charlie made New Mexico his home briefly while he worked on a pipeline there. After 5 years, he moved to Jaffrey where he has lived with his family ever since. Charlie loved his work almost as much as he loved his family. He enjoyed everyone he worked with and he loved what he did at Teleflex in Jaffrey for the past 22 Years. Previously, he had been employed at D.D. Beans & Sons and at W.W. Cross Co., both in Jaffrey. He was an avid fan of all of the New England sports teams, especially the Patriots and the Red Sox. Charlie also loved playing cards, in particular, 7 Card Stud and Holdem. Foxwoods was always a fun filled trip where he was always a gracious and patient escort for ‘his girls’ when they would all go out together and enjoy many times of ‘just one more…’. Charlie’s greatest love was his family, and the cherished times spent together where he would keep everyone in the room laughing. He will truly be missed. In addition to his step-mother, April McDonald of Keene, NH, Charlie is survived by his wife of 20 years, Terry (Selecky) McDonald of Jaffrey; his 2 daughters, Renee Snow of Jaffrey and Jamie McDonald of Fort Campbell, Kentucky; his 3 sons, David Matson of Troy, NH, Matthew McDonald of Gardner, MA, and Nathan Pelletier of Jaffrey; his 7 granddaughters, Chelsie, Alyssa, Colby, Stephanie, Mykayla, Katelyn, and Addison; his 5 sisters, Maryann McDonald of Rindge, NH, Penny McDonald of Jaffrey, Bobbie J. Norby of Rindge, NH, Gloria Sirois of Troy, NH, and Sue-Ellen McDonald of Springfield, MA; his brother Richard McDonald of Milford, NH, his Uncle William McDonald of Concord, NH and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
