Charlotte Pearl Galbraith of Greenfield, died Monday, June 9, 2014 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon after a lengthy illness.
Born in Newport, NH on June 22, 1942, she was the daughter of the late John and Marcia (Jordan) Boutwell. Charlotte had attended schools in Newport prior to graduating from Keene High School in 1960.
For many years, Charlotte was a stay at home mom raising her children. She began working in the “white room” at the New Hampshire Ball Bearing in Peterborough, where she remained employed there for 26 years, retiring in 2004.
Charlotte’s faith, strong morals and love of family allowed her to provide assistance to her children while often disregarding her own wants and needs. She cherished family gatherings of any size from one to all.
Charlotte enjoyed browsing antique shops, building puzzles, knitting new born children's clothing, car rides to nowhere, reading romance paperbacks, playing computer games, shopping and let’s not forget, watching television soap operas.
Charlotte spent her last 33 years with Peter Galbraith, the love of her life; his support brought her stability and great happiness. They married in 1994 and recently celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary.
Charlotte was predeceased by her son, Christopher John Rajaniemi, her brother John Boutwell and her sister Darlene Taylor.
Charlotte is survived by her husband, Peter T. Galbraith of Greenfield, her five children, Bernard Rajaniemi of Antrim, Dorothy Kelly of Hillsborough, Kimberly Galbraith of Hillsborough, Matthew “Matt” Rajaniemi of Antrim, and Robin Nichols of Antrim; 12 grandchildren, Dillon Rajaniemi, Christopher Galbraith, Sarah Galbraith, Mark Davies, Shane Kelly, Brandi Maleski, Kali Maleski, Brian O’Clair, Brett Rajaniemi, Brandon Rajaniemi, Zachary Rajaniemi and Erin Champagne; five great-grandchildren, Nathan Galbraith, Nicholas Galbraith, Bretton Davies, Sampson Rajaniemi and Charlotte LaBlanc; 3 siblings, Carolyn Pocket of Harrisville, Raymond Boutwell of Rowe, Mass., Jeannette Olivo of Port Ritchie, FL and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
At Charlotte’s request, there will be no formal calling hours or services. Her family will gather at the family plot in Dublin, NH, Dublin Cemetery for a time of remembrance.
