Christine Scarmeas Swift

Christine Scarmeas Swift, 89, of Robbins Road, Rindge died peacefully Saturday September 4, 2010 at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough with family by her side.

She was born April 8, 1921in Lowell, MA daughter of the late George and Kanella (Kougias) Scarmeas. She was a graduate of Lowell High School and had attended Lowell Commercial College.

Mrs. Swift has been a resident of Rindge since 1990 and had previously lived in South Windsor CT since 1974; before that she had lived in East Hartford for many years.
She was a retired employee of the State of Connecticut, Judicial System.

Christine enjoyed dancing and loved to travel. Her grandson said she was a great cook. She also enjoyed golf and skiing, but most of all she cherished time spent with her family.

She is survived by her daughter Virginia H. Pease of Manchester CT; her son Bradford G. Swift of Rindge; two grandchildren Michael Pease of Manchester CT and Deborah A. Pease of West Hartford CT; a great-granddaughter Ellie Potter of West Hartford CT; her sister Virginia Poulios of Westford MA;and Harry Leland Swift of Jaffrey,together for 63 years; many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by a sister Angie Korntonis and four brothers John Scarmeas, Harry Scarmeas, Milton Scarmeas and Samuel Scarmeas.
