With profound sadness and heavy hearts, we announce the untimely passing of Christopher Glenn Thigpen, affectionately known to those who cherished him as "Bubba." Yet, his most treasured title was “Dada.” Born on June 19, 1983, in Atlanta, Georgia, Christopher left this world far too soon on July 21, 2024, at the age of 41. His departure has created an immeasurable void in the hearts of all who knew him, but his spirit will forever be a beacon of light, love, and inspiration. He leaves behind three amazing children, who were the greatest joys of his life.
Christopher was a man whose presence could transform a room. A devoted and loving family man, his greatest pride and joy came from being a father to his three incredible children: Glenn Arthur Thigpen, age 8; Gianna Raleigh Thigpen, age 6; and Charlie Ann Thigpen, age 4. To them, he was not just a father but a guiding star, a hero, and a source of endless love and encouragement. Through their eyes, we continue to see his smile and feel the enduring love he had for them.
Christopher was a remarkable person who left a lasting impact on everyone he encountered. He was a not only a loving father, but a cherished friend, a devoted son, and a respected community member. His words carried wisdom and meaning, and his guidance changed countless lives. The faith and hope he inspired will continue to ripple through the lives he touched, creating a legacy that will endure for generations.
Christopher’s journey, which eventually led him to his passion for helping others, began when his family moved to Jaffrey, New Hampshire. He graduated from Conant High School in 2002 as an accomplished multi-sport athlete, showcasing his talents and passion on both the field and the court.
In addition to his three beloved children, Christopher is survived by his loving wife, Maria (Siannas) Thigpen of Watertown, MA, and his devoted mother, Katherine Raleigh Thigpen of Jaffrey, NH. He also leaves behind his sister, Katelyn Ann Thigpen, and her partner, Damian Lauwers, of North Andover, MA, as well as his nephew, Jack Christopher Lauwers. Christopher was preceded in death by his father, Glenn Thigpen, of Florence, SC. He also leaves behind a wide circle of family and friends who will miss him dearly.
Christopher was the proud owner of The Corner Café in Newton, MA, where he was admired by his dedicated employees and cherished customers. He lived by example, instilling the importance of faith and family in those around him. His legacy lives on not only in his children but also in the countless lives he impacted with his message.
Christopher was an adventurer at heart, an explorer who sought out life's wonders with a sense of joy and curiosity. He traveled the world with those he cherished most, from Switzerland to Guatemala, Greece to Costa Rica, and countless places in between. Each journey was a testament to his boundless enthusiasm for life, and the memories made during these travels will forever leave an indelible mark on the hearts of his wife, children, and family. Whether running a marathon, hiking to the top of a mountain, climbing the tallest tree, diving off pristine waterfalls, or exploring nature to uncover its hidden treasures, Christopher was always driven by an insatiable desire to see and experience the world.
His children, Glenn, Gianna, and Charlie Ann, have inherited his same sense of wonder and adventure, a gift lovingly instilled in them by their dad. Christopher leaves behind a world that is undoubtedly better for having had him in it, and his legacy will live on through the lives of those who were blessed to know him.
A Service of Remembrance and Celebration will be held on Monday, August 5th, at 11:00 am at The First Church in Jaffrey, NH. We warmly welcome all to join us for the service and the reception afterward. Together, we will share stories and memories, honoring and celebrating the remarkable man who touched us all.
Though Christopher may no longer walk among us, his legacy will continue to shine through his beloved children, through the love he shared, and through the lives he changed. We find solace in knowing that his spirit will forever light our path, guiding us with the same warmth and love that he so generously gave.
Rest in peace, dear Christopher. You will be missed beyond measure but never forgotten. Your love remains with us always, guiding us as you did in life, with grace, kindness, and unwavering love.
"A father's love is eternal and lives on in the hearts of his children."
