David Edward Olson, 77, of Rindge, NH went to be with the Lord on May 14, 2017. He died peacefully in his sleep at the Pheasant Wood Nursing Home. David was born on May 30, 1939 in Adams Township, Houghton County, Michigan to Edward and Elsie (Suomala) Olson. He graduated from Chassell Township High School in 1957.
David was a devout Christian who attended the Apostolic Lutheran Church on Goen Road in New Ipswich, NH for many years. He was a faithful and loving husband and father. He served Honorably in the US Army. He was also an avid stamp collector/dealer who was respected in the stamping world. He wrote articles, displayed his collection, became a writer and publisher of an important stamp newsletter, attended auctions, and was commissioned for speaking engagements around New England.
David was predeceased by his wife Linda (Seppala) of 40 years, his daughters Lois Olson, Nancy Tapply, and Susan Stenersen. He leaves behind five daughters and four sons: Jane (Olson) Mayer and husband Arno of Rindge, NH; Ed Olson and wife Stacey (Kangas) of New Ipswich, NH; Wallace Olson and wife Kristina (Garcia) of W. Richland, WA; Mary (Olson) Smallwood and husband F. Paul of Greer, SC; Esther (Olson) Stenersen and husband Nolan of Fitzwilliam, NH; Evelyn (Olson) Mire of Fitchburg, MA; Stephanie (Olson) Traffie and husband Jon of New Ipswich, NH; Henry Olson and Eun Hye Kim of Seoul, South Korea; Marcus Olson and Cassie (Somero) of Greer, SC. He also has 31 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, 3 sisters, 1 predeceased sister, 2 brothers, 5 predeceased brothers, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.
David was well loved by his children, grandchildren, brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews. He will be deeply missed, but we who believe that Jesus is our Lord will see him again one day.
Family and friends are invited to calling hours on Sunday, May 21, 2017 from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Apostolic Lutheran Church, 117 Goen Road, New Ipswich, NH 03071
The funeral service for David will begin at 11:00 AM on Monday, May 22, 2017 at the Apostolic Lutheran Church. All are invited to attend.
A Graveside service and burial with military honors will take place at 3:00 PM in the family lot at Hillside Cemetery in Rindge.
