David H. Larssen,54, of North Weymouth MA, died peacefully at Good Shepherd Healthcare Facility in Jaffrey New Hampshire on Thursday October 17, 2013.
He was born September 28, 1959 in Weymouth MA, the son of the late O. Harold B. and Florence (Coffin) Larssen.
David was a graduate of Braintree High School and lived his whole life on the South Shore of Boston.
David enjoyed “Classic Cars” especially Chevy Corvettes. He was mechanically minded and was always ready to discuss engine design. He always dreamed of developing a perpetual motion engine for automobiles.
He enjoyed watching the Red Sox and Patriots on TV with neighbors and friends.
Dave was a very bright man with a great sense of humor who was also mentally ill. As is common for schizophrenics, his disease showed up in his teenage years. He spent many years in group homes and institutional settings. But Dave worked very hard to stay in his programs, take his medication (with all it's side effects), and keep up with his counselors. The result was that he was able to have his own place, and be completely independent for the last 15 years of his life. Dave did an amazing job of making the most of the incredibly challenging hand he was dealt.
Survivors include his two sisters Jeanne E. Larssen and her husband Dennis DiPaolo of Mason NH and Kristina M. Larssen of Honolulu, Hawaii. He was also uncle to several Boston Terriers.
