David L. Hanan, 59, of Lehtinen Road, Jaffrey died Sunday May 27, 2012 at Good Shepherd Healthcare Center following a courageous battle with cancer. He was born June 13, 1952 in Connellsville PA, son of the late Harvey and Agnes (Connors) Hanan, and has been a resident of this Jaffrey since 1954. Dave was a 1970 graduate of Conant High School in Jaffrey and graduated in 1972 with an Associate’s Degree from Becker College in Worcester MA. Following graduation he enlisted in the United States Army and had served during the Vietnam conflict. Dave received the National Defense Service medal, the Good Conduct medal and was and expert hand grenade marksman. He was a member of the John Humiston Post #11 American Legion of Jaffrey and also Jaffrey Memorial Post #5613 VFW . For the past 28 years Dave has been employed as Purchase Manager for Johnson Abrasives Co. Inc of Jaffrey. Dave was an active member of the Monadnock Rod Gun Club and was a Hunter Safety Instructor. He belonged to the National Wild Turkey Association. David will be remembered for his love and devotion to his family and friends and for the kindness he offered to all he met. Family members include two daughters Amy R. Harrington and her husband Richard of Rindge, and Maggie Hanan of Swanzey. His son James Hanan and his wife Kara of Jaffrey; grandchildren, Savannah, Morgan, John, Conor, Tyler, Reagan and Bryson.
The family has requested, for those who wish, that Memorial contributions be made to either the Shriners Hospital for Children, 15 Blossom Street, Boston MA 02114 or to the Monadnock Rod Gun Club, Post Office Box 82, Jaffrey NH 03452.
Family and friends will honor and remember Dave’s life by gathering for calling hours at Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street (Route 202S) in Jaffrey on Friday from 7:00 to 9:00PM.
Funeral Services will be held in the funeral home chapel on Saturday, June 2, 2012 at 4:00PM. Sue Bonner, Hospice Chaplain, will officiate. Burial with full military honors will follow in the family lot in St. Patrick Cemetery, Jaffrey.
