Retired Grumman Corporate Executive David L. Walsh passed away last year, March 21st , 2010 at the age of 79, while wintering in Sarasota Florida. David was born in Huntington, NY on April 30, 1930, son of the late Lawrence and Ada (Blydenberg) Walsh. He graduated from Huntington High School as Class President and Captain of the Basketball team in 1947 and attended Paul Smiths College in 1949 where he played Varsity Basketball and was Vice President of the Student Council. After graduating from Paul Smith\'s College in 1951, he served with the Army Infantry in Augsburg Germany before starting his Grumman career in the spring of 1952 with Flight Test. He then transitioned to the Marketing Department, where he was a principle in the contract award for the F-14 Tomcat Navy Fighter. Grumman recognized his talents and sent him to the Harvard Advanced Management School (AMP ’80) in the spring of 1979. Rising through the ranks over the ensuing years from Manager to Director of Aerospace Marketing and then to Corporate Vice President for Marketing, the position he retired from in 1991. He raised his family in Wincoma Estates on Huntington Bay, LI where he was President of the Association for several years. He was a member of St. John\'s Episcopal Church. David spent summers in Rindge, NH with his family starting in 1945. During the summer of 1949 he ran the Wellington Homestead. In 1970 he was the Commodore of the Monomonac Lake Sailing Association. He and his wife Barbara moved to Rindge after his retirement in 1991. He served on the Board of the Monomonac Lake Property Association and as President of the Jaffrey-Rindge Ambulance Foundation for several years. David and Barbara had spent the winter months residing on Siesta Key in Sarasota, Fla. since 1991. David is survived by his loving wife, Barbara (Carson) Walsh of Saranac Lake, NY; 4 daughters and son-in laws; Kim & Rex James of Lakewood Ranch, FL, Holly & Richard Dykema of Saratoga, CA, Michele & Ethan Perry of Rindge, NH and Nanette & Ron Reuss of Lakewood Ranch, FL; 9 grandchildren; Ryan & wife Sarah, Kelly, Brooke and Reid James, Jessica and husband Dan (O\'Connor), Brenda and Elise Perry, Megan & Wendy Reuss and 3 great-grandchildren; Sophia James and Quinn & Keegan O\'Connor; as well as his loving sister Nan Elizabeth Schow and her husband Howard of Pasadena & Carpenteria, CA.
The family has requested memorial donations be sent to the Cathedral of the Pines, 10 Hale Road, Rindge, NH 03461.
