David Phillip Damon, 82, of Ashburnham, died unexpectedly, Friday, December 14, 2018, in the comfort of his home, after a sudden illness.
He was born in Fitchburg, MA, the son of Albert and Marion (Mills) Damon. He grew up and lived in the Ashby area most of his life. He was a 1955 graduate of Ashby High School.
He was pre-deceased by his second wife Sandra E. Dill in 1980.
He had many careers which included being a member of the Ashby Volunteer Fire Department, driving excavators and tractor trailers, and in “retirement” he drove bus for First Student and Atlantic Express until health issues forced him to stop.
He was an AVID Celtics fan as well as the Red Sox and Patriots. He enjoyed fishing, riding snowmobiles and motorcycles, watching local auto races, eating popcorn and Fran’s cooking. He was also a Free Mason with the Bethel - Souhegan Lodge #24 of New Ipswich, NH.
He is survived by his children: Brenda Gibson and her husband Fran of Rindge, NH; Mark Damon and his wife Paula of Rindge, NH; and David “Howie” Damon of Fitchburg, MA; 16 grandchildren, and 29 great grandchildren; as well as several close friends.
An hour of visitation will be held, at the Hope Fellowship Church, 16 Prescott Road, Jaffrey, NH on Saturday, December 22, 2018 from 2:00 until 3:00 pm. Funeral Services will immediately follow the visitation. Burial will take place in the Glenwood Cemetery in the spring.
