David W. Vinal, 91, of Jaffrey died June 22, 2016 at the Good Shepherd Health Care Center, following a period of failing health.
He was born January 27, 1925 in Brockton, MA , son of the late Justin and Muriel (Ward) Vinal.
David’s family had moved to Jaffrey when he was a year old. He was a 1943 graduate of Conant High School in Jaffrey and received his Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from Tufts University in Boston.
David enlisted in the United States Army in July of 1943 and had served as a Surgical Technician with the 163rd General Hospital Division in the European, African and Middle Eastern Theater.
David was a Life Member of Jaffrey Memorial Post #5613 VFW and was a Past Commander of Post 5613. He also was a Past District Commander of the VFW.
David also was a Life member of the John Humiston Post #11, American Legion in Jaffrey.
Mr. Vinal was one of the founding members and a driver for the VFW Ambulance service in Jaffrey. He had served as its original dispatcher for almost thirty years.
He was the owner and operator of the former Hillcrest Nursing Home in Jaffrey.
David has no known living relatives, however he is survived by several friends including Vernon “ Butch” Taylor and his wife Beverley of Jaffrey; and Godson Eric Taylor of Greenfield, NH.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his only sibling Janet Leonard in 2014.
As per his request, there will be no calling hours.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held Friday July 22, 2016 at 2:00PM at the family lot in Conant Cemetery, Stratton Road, Jaffrey.
