Donald 'Don' Murray

Donald ‘Don’ Murray, 84, of Rindge, NH, died peacefully on December 2, 2020 at his home with his wife by his side.

He was born in Des Moines, NM on September 1, 1936, son of the late Wayne and Esther (Purvines) Murray. Don grew up on his family’s ranch in New Mexico and enjoyed his youth riding Broncs and Bulls and competing in local rodeos. He went on to graduate from Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM with a bachelor’s degree.

Don spent his career working for the Veterans Administration, all around the country, and retired from the central office in Washington, DC in 1992. It was in Washington that he met and married his wife Anne in 1973.

Upon moving to Jaffrey, Don became a communicant at Saint Patrick Church and was an active 3rd degree member of Our Lady of Monadnock Knights of Columbus, Council #8544. He also enjoyed golf, skiing and loved to run. Don was very proud to have competed in the historic 100th running of the Boston Marathon in 1996.

In addition to Don’s parents, his brother Richard and his sister Judy both died earlier.

He is survived by his beloved wife Anne and his children; son Val Murray and his wife Gretchen of Missoula, MO, son Daren Murray and his wife Jackie of Colorado Springs, CO, and daughter Kim Hibbs and her husband Jason of La Junta, CO; his grandchildren, Galen Murray, Alexander Murray, Jenna Murray, Chelsea Entenmann and her husband Brock, and Bethany Tiffany and her husband Dakota. He is also survived by his brother Wayne David Murray and his wife Edith, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

In the interest of everyone’s health and wellbeing, no services will be held at this time. A Memorial Mass of Christian Burial will be announced later.
