Donald O. Folsom

Donald O. Folsom, 90, of Keene, NH, died peacefully on Saturday March 2, 2024, at Langdon Place in Keene after a period of declining health.

‘Don’ was born on November 4, 1933, in Boston, MA, a son of the late E. Wilfred Folsom and Ada (Shannehan) Folsom.  He attended Boston Schools and graduated from the Bordentown Military Institute in 1952.

Don served his country with the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, in a unique fashion.  He was stationed at Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. where he served as an Operating Room Specialist.  Upon his honorable discharge, Don attended the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and graduated from the New England Institute of Applied Funeral Arts and Sciences in 1958.

Don worked alongside his family as a Funeral Director with his family’s business, Folsom Funeral Service, in Dedham, MA. He would spend the next 30 years proudly serving his community. He was elected as a member of the Board of Health for the town of Dedham in the 1980’s and was a proud member of the Constellation Lodge A.F. & F.M. Don was recognized as a Paul Harris Fellow after being a 30-year member and Past President of the Rotary Club of Dedham, and had also been an active parishioner, board member and choir singer for the Allin Congregational Church in Dedham.   He also had many fond memories of his membership in The Society in Dedham for Apprehending Horse Thieves.

Upon moving to Keene, NH in 1988, Don became affiliated with the Fletcher Funeral Home, and later the Cournoyer Funeral Home.  He joined the Keene Pops Choir, where Don also served on their board of directors and enjoyed travelling extensively around Europe with the choir and the camaraderie the choir brought to his life.

Donald is predeceased by his beloved wife Corinne “Connie” Folsom, a step-daughter, Kathleen Meade, and by his brothers, Earl and Richard Folsom, and his sister Jean Enman.

Donald is survived by his children, David Folsom, Deborah Folsom, Mark Goodell, Kim Goodell, Scott Goodell, and many grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.
