DONALD L. EVANS, 71, of Peterborough died Saturday February 9, 2008 at Harborside Healthcare-Pheasantwood in Peterborough after a long and courageous battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy.He was born on August 12, 1936 in Canton, Ohio, son of the late Roger and Dorothy (Warwick) Evans. Mr. Evans was a 1954 graduate of Timken (OH) High School and had served in Germany with the United States Army from 1959 to 1962.Mr. Evans was always regarded as a hard worker and devoted employee. For many years, he worked for Timken Roller Bearing and after moving to Peterborough, worked for Pioneer Plastics in Greenville for 4 years and then for Teleflex in Jaffrey where he was forced to retire in 1999 after the affects of his illness grew worse. Mr. Evans was an avid golfer and a connoisseur of fine food especially when it had been prepared by his wife. He also enjoyed spending all the time he possibly could with his grandchildren.He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Gayle (Fisher) Evans of Rindge; his son Douglas and his wife Lori Evans of Jaffrey; his step-son Trey and his wife Terry Frederick of Rindge; his grandchildren, Dylan and Sarah Evans of Jaffrey, Nicole Dufault of Winchendon, MA and Kyle Frederick of Rindge; his 2 sisters, Patricia and her husband Robert Stevens of Tubac, AZ and Joanne and her husband Sam Tritt of Massillon, OH; his brother Richard and his wife Anne Evans of Canton, OH; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.

Family and Friends are warmly invited to Calling Hours on Friday February 29, 2008 from 1:00 to 2:00 PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Route 202) in Jaffrey. A Memorial Service will follow at 2:00 PM in the funeral home chapel, Rev. David Forry will officiate.
