Donald T. Anderson

Donald Theodore Anderson, 86, of Jaffrey, formerly of Peterborough, died early Saturday morning, October 6, 2018, at the Epsom Healthcare Center in Epsom, NH, after a period of declining health.

He was born on September 15, 1932, in Waltham, MA, to Thorsten and Eveline (Edwards) Anderson. He grew up in Waltham, and was a member of the Waltham High School, Class of 1950. After graduation, he worked for Waltham Watch until 1953.

On January 14, 1953, Don enlisted in the United States Army, and served for 2 years before his honorable discharge as a Corporal on January 13, 1955.

On December 26, 1953 he married Patricia Rowe in a ceremony in Waltham, MA. They were married for 21 years and had 5 children.

After his discharge, he attended Boston University on the GI Bill and after graduation, in 1958, he worked for Raytheon in Portsmouth, RI. In 1963 Don left Raytheon and began working for Sylvania in Waltham, MA. . He moved to Peterborough NH in 1967 after transferring to the Hillsborough plant.

In 1969 he began working for Franklin Pierce College, and for the remaining 30 years of his career, he remained there as their Director of Human Resources. He retired in 1999.
In 1976, he married Sarah E. Andrews, and they were married for 42 years before Dons passing.

He is survived by his wife: Sarah, of Peterborough, his children: Gregory Anderson and his wife Maureen, of Concord, Synia Anderson of Jaffrey, Jacki-Beth Hanchett and her husband Shane of Nelson, Kristin Anderson of Marlow, Karl Anderson and his wife Paula of Greenfield, NH, Susan Szydlo of Dublin and Sally Howe of Jaffrey; 16 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren as well as Olle Bäcke and other extended family in Avesta, Sweden.

A graveside service will be held at the family lot at Pine Hill Cemetery on Sand Hill Road in Peterborough, NH at 11:00 am on Friday, November 2, 2018. The public is invited. Following the service a Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at The VFW on Rt. 202 in Jaffrey, NH.
