Doris C. Babneau, 88, longtime resident of Dublin and more recently of Alstead NH died peacefully Friday February 3, 2012 at the Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough following a period of failing health. She was born September 21, 1923 in Keene, daughter of the late Frank E. and Hattie (Brown) White. She had attended schools in Keene and had been a resident of Dublin since 1944. Doris had worked for the New Hampshire Ball Bearing Company in Peterborough for twenty four years, retiring in 1970. Following her retirement she enjoyed helping several Dublin residents with cooking and doing errands for them. She considered these people as her extended family. Fishing and gardening were her two favorite past times. She especially enjoyed baking and canning and sharing it with others. Dot was known for giving away her homemade donuts, pickles and apple pies. She was happiest spending time with her family. Doris’s children would like to thank all of her doctors and nurses for their excellent care and compassion shown to their mother and also Hospice for their services and use of their room at Monadnock Community Hospital. Doris’s daughters would also like to thank their brother Ed for his many years of selfless dedication and care for their mother. She is survived by her son Clarence Edward Babneau of Alstead with whom she had lived; daughters Betty Wilkinson and her husband Bob of Manchester, Doris Bunk of Dublin, Linda LaFlamme and husband Larry of Dublin and Karen Lightbody and her husband John of Stoddard; 12 grandchildren; 18 great grandchildren; 4 great great grandchildren several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband Clarence “Chick” Babneau who died in 1986; her daughter Nancy Murray, a brother William M. White as well as her two sisters Gladys Verry and Eunice Gaylor.
In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that, memorial contributions are made to the Good Neighbor Fund, Post Office Box 486, Jaffrey NH 03452-0486.
As per her request, there will be no calling hours.
Graveside services in the Dublin Cemetery will be held on Saturday May 12,2012 at 11:00AM . Rev Dean Eaton of Keene will officiate.
