Doris E. Drew, 90, of Jaffrey, NH passed away peacefully on July 16, 2024, at her home with her family by her side. 

Doris was born on January 7, 1934, in Fitchburg, MA., daughter of George and Dora (Arsenault) Lanthier. She attended the Immaculate Conception Church where she received her sacraments and attended the Immaculate School. She was a 1952 graduate of Appleton Academy in New Ipswich, NH.

Following her graduation from Appleton Academy, Doris worked at Protectory of Mary Immaculate run by the Grey Nuns in Lawrence, Massachusetts before attending Mary Knoll Missionaries briefly. She then joined the women’s Army corps and served our country during the Korean Conflict. Doris served in the United States Army for 2 years and was able to use her G.I. Benefits to further her education and attended St. Joseph’s Infirmary School of nursing in Atlanta, Georgia where she studied for 1.5 years and then moved to finish her education at St. Joseph’s Infirmary school in Nashua, NH before marrying Leslie Drew in 1956.

Doris was a loving mother of 9 children and spent 24 years raising her children at home. She worked at the Good Shepherd Nursing Center as a home healthcare person for 15 years. Doris was a woman of faith and believed in giving back to the community. She was a communicant of St. Patrick’s Parish in Jaffrey, NH and served as a Respect Life member. She taught in CCD for many years and volunteered at the Good Shepherd Nursing Center once a week. She served as an aide for the sick and infirmed on the Ahearn Pilgrimage to Saint Anne de Beaupré, in Canada with her friend Mary Morin of Jaffrey.

Doris was predeceased by both of her parents, her brother Richard Drew in 1987, her sister Claire in 2002, her husband of 44 years, Leslie W. Drew on November 8, 2000, and her son Peter Drew of Jaffrey, NH on August 29, 2019. 

She is survived by her four daughters: Teresa R. Street of Somersworth, NH, Mary Drew of Fitzwilliam, NH, Julia Armstrong of Townsend, MA, and Emily Drew of Jaffrey, NH. Her four sons; James Drew of Maple Plains, MN, Joseph Drew of Greenville, NH, Michael Drew of Jaffrey, NH, and Nicholas Drew of Rindge, NH. 22 Grandchildren, 15 Great-Grandchildren, as well as many nieces, nephews, extended family and friends. 

Family and friends are invited to her Funeral Mass on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at 11:00 AM in St. Patrick Church, 89 Main St., Jaffrey, NH, 03452. The family invites all to join them to Pray the Rosary before Mass at 10:00 AM. All are welcome. 

Burial with military honors will take place following Mass at St. Patrick Cemetery, Hillcrest Road, Jaffrey, NH, 03452. 

In lieu of flowers, Doris has asked that memorial contributions be made in her memory to VAMC 718 Smyth Rd. Manchester, NH, 03104, or to a charity of your choice.
