Dorothy E. Doremus

Dorothy E. (Young) Doremus, 88, of Jaffrey, NH, passed away Wednesday, July 6th, 2016, at the Good Shepard Rehabilitation & Nursing Center in Jaffrey, NH, surrounded by family.

Mrs. Doremus was born in Lincoln Park, NJ on December 14th 1927, the daughter of the late Emil and Elsie (Wettstein) Young. After graduating high school, Dorothy was employed as the Town Secretary for the Community of Mountain Lakes, NJ. After the end of WWII, Dorothy met former USMC Crpl. David E. Doremus at the newly founded Mountain View Gospel Church, in Mountain View, NJ. Both Dorothy and David were instrumental in the building of the new church and were married in the same building they helped to build on May 21th 1950. Both David and Dorothy felt called into Christian Service and together left for Providence Bible Institute in Providence, RI. Both David and Dorothy served the Lord Faithfully over the 66 years of their marriage, first in Chegoggin, Nova Scotia for 6 years and then in Arlington Heights, MA for 36 years, finally moving to Jaffrey, NH in June of 2000.

Dorothy is survived by her ten children (8 sons and 2 daughters) and their spouses (one deceased), twenty two grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Family and friends are warmly invited to calling hours on Monday, July 11, 2016 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street, (Rte. 202) Jaffrey, N.H.
A Funeral Service will take place in the chapel at 7:30 p.m. immediately following calling hours.

Graveside Committal Services will take place at 11:00 a.m. at the New Hampshire State Veterans Cemetery, 110 Daniel Webster Hwy, Boscawen, NH 03303

A memorial service will be held for Dorothy at the Monadnock Bible Baptist Church, 210 South Woodbound Road, Rindge, NH 03461 on Saturday, July 16th at 11:00 AM.
