Douglas R. Poulin, 61, of Rindge, NH passed away Monday, October 5, 2015 at his home after a brief illness.
He was born in Northampton, MA on October 13, 1953 and was the son of the late Rene J. Poulin Sr. and Rose B. (Onhilevich) Poulin.
He attended Holyoke Catholic High School in MA and H.H. Arnold High School in Wiesbaden High School in Germany where he graduated in 1971. Soon afterwards, he enlisted in the US Army and served at many bases throughout the US, in addition to Korea, and Germany. He retired after 20 years with the Army at Fort Devens, MA, in 1991 as a Sergeant First Class.
He had also lived in Wiesbaden Germany, North Hatfield, Winchendon, Gardner and West Townsend, MA.
He worked as a mail handler for the US Postal Service in Shrewsbury, MA until retiring again in 2004.
Doug was a member of the Royalston Fish & Game Club, the Harley Owners Group, Disabled Veterans Group, and the John Humiston Memorial VFW Post #5613 in Jaffrey.
Doug enjoyed photography, reading, fishing, hunting, building model airplanes, and especially traveling the country side, coast to coast on his Harley Davidson motorcycles.
Doug was predeceased by his mother in 1973, his father in 2006, and his oldest sister, Patricia Poulin (Patsy) in 1959.
Doug leaves his son, Douglas W. Poulin of Auburn, CA; his two sisters, Bernadette Schillemat of Marlborough, NH, and Camille Willard of Florence, MA; one brother, Rene J. Poulin, Jr. of Springfield, MA; one grandson, three nieces, one nephew, and numerous cousins. He also leaves his ex-wife, Cheryl (Guthrie) O'Leary of CA, and his ex-wife of twenty years, Monika Poulin, with whom he remained a close friend. He will be missed by his family and friends including his neighbors.
