Dudley H. Speros

December 28, 1961 — June 7, 2012

Dudley H. Speros, 50, of Westport, CT and Rindge, NH died peacefully Thursday, June 7, 2012 at his home after a brief illness. Dudley was born on December 28, 1961 in Winchester, Massachusetts, son of the late Arthur C. and Sandra D. (Hall) Speros. He was a 1980 graduate of Dover-Sherborn High School and continued his education at Nasson College and graduated from Clark University in 1985 with a Bachelors of Science Degree. Professionally, Dudley was a master negotiator and an accomplished salesman. He took great pride in being an integral part of the Trinity Packaging Corporation team in Armonk, NY and being instrumental in its growth. He was currently serving as the Senior Vice President in the Consumer Products Division. Not only was Dud “master of the deal” in his work, he used his craftsman negotiating skills to complete “Dud Deals” for both friends and family in his personal life. Countless friends can look at something they own and smile at the thought of Dud leading their negotiations in its purchase. He greatly enjoyed time spent with his friends and family. Dudley enjoyed the outdoors, sailing, fishing and dinner with friends. Dinner parties at the Speros’ were sure to be full of fun and laughter. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed shooting at the Peterborough Sportsman’s Club. Dud used his keen eye honed on the shooting range to rid his backyard in Rindge of vermin and unwanted visitors. Dud enjoyed fishing with his friends whether it be at Lake Monomonac or in Long Island Sound off the coast of Westport. He also enjoyed cruises around the lake and time on the deck talking with friends and listening to music. Dudley was a former Commodore of the Lake Monomonac Sailing Association and was currently serving as Vice-Commodore. He was proud of his sailing prowess having been a nationally ranked Flying Dutchmen sailor. Of late, Dud had turned his attention to Laser sailboats and was in the process of supplying the lake with a fleet of Laser sailboats. Nothing, however, overshadowed Dudley’s enjoyment of his family. Cate became part of Dud’s life and it changed forever. He was a devoted father and loved nothing more than spending time with Cate and Carol-Ann. He worked diligently to pass on his negotiating and salesmanship skills to Cate and it wasn’t long before he realized that he had met his match. As you see and talk to Cate today, she will soon win you over with the same smiling and gregarious nature that we all knew and loved in Dud. It won’t be long before Cate starts negotiating the next generation of “Dud Deals.” Dudley is survived by his wife of twenty years, Carol-Ann “C.A.” (Gladue) Speros and his daughter, Catherine “Cate” Speros of Westport, CT and the “Cozy House” in Rindge, NH. He is also survived by his two sisters, Cindy (Speros) Hale and her husband, J.D. Hale of Winchester, MA, along with Susan (Speros) Perry and her husband, Adam Perry of Medfield, MA. Also his best friend, Lily, and many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends. In lieu of flowers, the family has asked that memorial contributions be made to the Pan-Mass Challenge by sending contributions payable to “PMC” in Dudley’s name to PO Box 1366, Shirley, MA 01464 or contributions can be made in Dud’s name directly to the PMC website at www.pmc.org. Per request of the family, there will be no calling hours. Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, June 12, 2012 at 11:00AM at the Cathedral of the Pines, 10 Hale Hill Road, Rindge, NH 03461 officiated by the Rev. Sarah Robbins-Cole, Associate Rector of All Saints Church in Peterborough, NH. http://thetributecenter.com/tributeplayer/default.aspx?webvideoID=5557
