Edward E. Chamberlain, Sr., 82, of Hancock, died peacefully on Friday, January 21, 2022 at Monadnock Community Hospital in Peterborough after a period of failing health.
Mr. Chamberlain was born in Hancock on August 24, 1939, son of the late Louis and Louise (Webberson) Chamberlain. He was raised and educated in town, and was a lifelong resident of Hancock.
For more than 20 years, Mr. Chamberlain assisted his brother-in-law, Charlie Pickard, with his logging operation before taking over the golf course groundskeeping at Torrey Pines. He had also worked in many capacities at the Antrim Reel Shop for many years. He married Mildred Marcotte in 1987, and they would’ve enjoyed their 35th wedding anniversary this year.
In his free time, Mr. Chamberlain enjoyed snowmobiling, riding motorcycles, antique tractors and watching wrestling. In his later years, he enjoyed the peacefulness of mowing his lawns and plowing snow with his Kubota tractor. He was a gifted artist and always liked drawing and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife, Millie, Mr. Chamberlain is survived by his daughter, Tina Howe, of Hancock, five grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, his sister, Barbara Pickard of Rindge, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was predeceased by his son, Edward ‘Eddie’ Chamberlain, Jr., and by his siblings, Lewis Chamberlain, Sr., Norman Chamberlain, and Arvilla Lang.
At Mr. Chamberlain’s request there will be no calling hours or services at this time. A celebration of life will be held in the warmer weather.
In lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions in Mr. Chamberlain’s name to the Good Neighbor Fund, PO Box 486, Jaffrey, NH 03452.
