Edward H. Chaffee, 62, of Jaffrey died peacefully on Friday May 5, 2017 at UMASS Medical Center in Worcester following a period of failing health.
He was born on July 20, 1954 in Peterborough, NH, son of the late Charles Chaffee and Beverly (Ellis) Jarvey. He received his education locally and lived in Milford, NH and Hillsborough, NH before settling in Jaffrey.
Ed enjoyed being outdoors and had worked at his Uncle George Ellis’ farm in Temple, NH for many years. He had also worked at East Coast Steel in Greenfield and Upland Farms in Peterborough before working at Monadnock Forest Products in Jaffrey. Most recently Ed had been working at McDonald’s in Jaffrey. He also enjoyed riding his ATV and an occasional Budweiser and Cigarette too. Ed was an avid fan of all of the New England sports teams, with his favorites being the Red Sox and the Patriots.
In addition to his parents, Ed was preceded in death by his sister, Nancy R. Chaffee on January 14, 2015.
He is survived by his brother, Rob Chaffee and wife Deanna of Ossipee, NH; and by his 2 sisters, Marion A. Chaffee of Florida and Pamela Harvey and her husband Mark of Jaffrey, NH as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, cousins and friends.
At Mr. Chaffee’s request, there will be no calling hours or formal services at this time.
A celebration of life will be held on Saturday May 20, 2017 at 3:00pm at Mark & Pam Harvey’s home at 173 Main Street, Jaffrey, NH 03452.
