Edward J.’Skip’ Sullivan, 80, of Jaffrey, NH, died Friday, October 24, 2014, at the Pheasant Wood Rehabilitation Center in Peterborough after a brief illness.
Skip was born on August 6, 1934, in Cambridge, MA, son of the late Edward and Mildred (Blair) Sullivan.
He attended St. Peter’s Grammar School and graduated from the former Rindge Technical High School, Cambridge, MA. He honorably served with the Massachusetts Army National Guard and retired from Western Electric in Watertown, MA, after a 30 year career as an electronics technician. In addition to living in Cambridge, Skip also lived in Brighton and Belmont, MA, until retiring and moving to Jaffrey in 1989.
Skip enjoyed his retirement years working as a greens keeper. In addition, he was an avid antique car enthusiast and founder of the Monadnock Oldies Car Club in Jaffrey. He also enjoyed camping, painting and playing cards.
Skip is survived by his beloved wife of fifty-seven years, Janet (Salway) Sullivan of Jaffrey; his 3 daughters, Joan Sullivan of Brighton, MA, Paula Blanchard and husband Ralph of Bel Air, MD, and Donna Green and husband Sean of Medway, MA; his 2 sons, Edward Sullivan, Jr. of Jaffrey, and John Sullivan of Needham, MA; 4 grandchildren, Timothy and wife Karey (Pooton), Brittany and Kayla Blanchard, and Mason Green; his 4 sisters, Barbara Sullivan of Cambridge, MA, Anne Cashman of Fort Myers, FL, Mary Burke of Boxborough, MA, and Peggy Flaherty of Cambridge, MA; an extended family and many friends.
Family and friends are warmly invited to calling hours on Monday, October 27, 2014, from 6:00 to 8:00 PM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 33 River Street (Rte. 202), Jaffrey.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Tuesday, October 28, 2014, at 1:00 PM in St. Patrick Church, 89 Main Street, Jaffrey. Rev. Wilfred H. Deschamps, Pastor, will officiate. Burial will be in the family lot in St. Patrick Cemetery, Jaffrey.
Friends with antique cars or trucks are encouraged to bring them to calling hours and the funeral, to help celebrate his passion while joining Skip’s procession to the cemetery.
