Eleanor Golus Majewski, 93, formerly of Lawrence, MA, died peacefully on Monday, October 1, 2018 at the Summerhill Assisted Living Facility with her family by her side after a period of declining health.
She was born of January 1, 1925 in Lawrence, MA, a daughter of the late Joseph and Edna (Seremet) Golus. Eleanor was raised and educated in Lawrence and graduated from Lawrence High School in 1942. She later graduated from secretarial school in Boston.
She married Charles Majewski on February 3, 1946 after his return from Naval duties during WWII. After raising her family, Eleanor began working and eventually retired from the Arlington Trust Company in Lawrence.
Before moving north for health reasons, Eleanor had been a communicant of the former Holy Trinity Parish in Lawrence, and later, Saint Monica’s of Methuen. She particularly enjoyed playing card games, especially “45s” which is a popular game in the Lawrence, Haverhill and Methuen area. She was also a long time member of the Red Hat Society.
In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband in 2000, her son-in-law, Neill Tripp, her daughter-in-law Judy Majewski, and her two brothers, Eugene and Edwin.
Eleanor is survived by her loving children and their spouses; Joseph and Joanne Majewski, Dr. Robert Majewski, Karen Majewski-Tripp and Karla and Dean Whitney. She was also the beloved “Babci” to her eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Friends and Family are invited to Calling Hours on Saturday, October 6, 2018, from 9:00 AM to 10:30 AM in the Cournoyer Funeral Home, 33 River Street, (Rte. 202) Jaffrey, NH 03452.
A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:00 AM in St. Patrick Church, 89 Main Street, Jaffrey, NH 03452. Her family will gather privately at a later date in Elmwood Cemetery in Methuen, MA where Eleanor will be buried next to her husband.
