Eleanor L. Logan

Mrs. Eleanor Geddes Lord Logan died peacefully at the RiverMead Retirement Community on February 12, 2014.

She was born October 13, 1917, in Champaign, Illinois, but within a year she and her parents moved back to New England where her father and his forebears had always lived. Thus she was raised in New England and remained there until her graduation from Smith College in 1939.

For the next 56 years she lived in California, during which time she taught music, married, went through the war as an Air Force officer’s wife, raised German Shepherd dogs and various cats, worked with her chiropractor husband, divorced, and then began working in Beverly Hills where she remained for the next 34 years in an interesting and challenging job with a company that managed real estate investments.

Upon her retirement in 1995, having remained at heart a New Englander, she moved from California to the RiverMead Retirement Community in Peterborough, New Hampshire, where she happily and busily lived out her days.

She leaves a sister, Mrs. Laura Woolsey Lord Smail, of Charlotte, NC; two nephews, four grand-nephews, and one grand-niece.

At Mrs. Logan’s request, there will be no calling hours at this time. There will be a memorial service at RiverMead on Friday, February 21, at 2pm. She will be buried with her family in Hanover, NH, in the spring.
