Ernest G. Caron, 83 passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 31, 2017 at the Dartmouth-Hitchcock Medical Center in Lebanon after a brief illness.
Mr. Caron was born on August 3, 1934 in Jaffrey. Ernest was the youngest child of Ernest and Edith Caron. He graduated from Conant High School in 1952, and soon after joined the Air Force, where he spent a year in Korea, fighting for his country.
In 1955, he met his soulmate, Martha Nehring while stationed in Houston, TX and the two were married on October 26, 1957. Upon his discharge from the Air Force in 1958, they moved back to Jaffrey.
Ernest had worked at W.W. Cross Co. and at Millipore Corp, both in Jaffrey, and his favorite pastime was playing the drums for local bands. He loved music and it brought him great happiness.
He is survived by his two children, Marieca (Caron) Metzger of Plano, TX, and Anthony Caron of Jaffrey, NH, his two granddaughters Samantha Jacot of Rowlett, TX and Danielle Metzger of Plano, TX, and the newest joy in his life his great-grandson Jason Jacot of Rowlett, TX.
Ernie was predeceased by his wife Martha, his parents, 3 sisters and one brother.
Calling hours will be held on Friday, January 5, 2018 at the Cournoyer Funeral Home, 33 River Street, Jaffrey from 10:00 am to 11:30 am.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated immediately following calling hours on Friday, at 12:00 noon in St. Patrick Church, 89 Main Street Jaffrey. Rev. Wilfred Deschamps, Pastor, will be the celebrant. Burial will take place in the spring at Saint Patrick Cemetery in Jaffrey.
In lieu of flowers memorial contributions may be made in Mr. Caron’s name to Jaffrey-Rindge Memorial Ambulance, PO Box 107, Jaffrey, NH 03452.
