Evelyn M. Groder

Peterborough, New Hampshire - Evelyn M. Groder, 97, passed Wednesday, August 28, 2013 at Summerhill Assisted Living in Peterborough, NH.

Evelyn was born August 7, 1916 in Skowhegan, Maine, the daughter of Ines (Rollins) and Henry A. Thomas. Prior to living in Peterborough, NH, Evelyn and her late husband Linwood J. Groder resided in Winchendon, MA, Madison, CT and Darien, CT. Evelyn graduated from Skowhegan High School, and Gorham Normal School.

On December 25th, 1936 Evelyn married Linwood J. Groder of Skowhegan, Maine. Early on, Evelyn and Linwood moved their family to New Jersey for a brief stay later to settle and raise their family in Darien, CT.

As a member of a local Dance Club and Golf Club in Darien, Evelyn and her husband Linwood enjoyed many sponsored dance and golf outings in Fairfield County. As an accomplished duo pianist, Evelyn’s passion and joy was exemplified by teaching children her many piano skills.

Evelyn is survived by sons, David B. Groder and daughter in-law Gail Groder of Jaffrey, NH and two grandchildren Matthew R. Groder of Boston, MA and Caitlin A. Groder of Newport, RI and son Edward T. Groder of New York, NY.

A memorial service will be held later in Skowhegan, ME.
