FLORENCE WINIFRED MONNAT, 93, formerly of Syracuse, NY died peacefully Monday October 13, 2008 at the Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Nursing Center in Jaffrey NH.
She was born February 19, 1915 in Syracuse, daughter of the late John and Florence (McCarthy) Slattery.
Florence, known as Flossie to her friends, attended schools in Syracuse St. Patricks for Grammar School and North High School and the Syracuse Secretarial School.
She was employed at Central New York Power Corp., prior to her marriage to Leonard Monnat on June 29th, 1946 at St. Brigids Church in Syracuse, NY. They celebrated fifty-nine wonderful years together.
She later served as the Church secretary for St. Brigid / St. Joseph Parish for many years; then served as Pastoral Minister, alongside her husband, Deacon Leonard Monnat for several years.
Florence loved life and people. She was a seasoned pianist from the age of twelve years; she won a piano competition at the old Keith Theatre. As a member of the Kappa Epsilon Society of the Syracuse high schools, she organized numerous dances and parties. She was an avid fan of the New York Yankees and also Notre Dame football.
Surviving are her four children, Thomas and Nancy Monnat of Havertown, Pennsylvania, Gerard Monnat of Stockholm, NY; Peter Monnat of Denver CO; and her daughter Mrs. Richmond (Ann) Nunn of Fitzwilliam, NH.
Mrs. Monnat also has six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

Memorial contributions may be made to Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Nursing Center, 20 Plantation Drive, Jaffrey NH 03452 and/or to St. Brigid / St. Joseph Church, Syracuse NY.
Burial in the family lot will be in St. Marys Cemetery, Dewitt NY
Calling hours will be at Tindall Funeral Home, 1921 W. Genesee St., Syracuse from 9:00am until 10:00am on Saturday October 18th.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Brigid / St. Joseph Church at 10:30AM
