Fred C. “Donkey” Bennett, 68, of Dublin, NH died peacefully after a long illness on Sunday, July 27, 2014 at his home while surrounded by his family.
Fred was born on October 1, 1946 in Nashua, NH, son of the late Walter and Lucille (Lavoie) Bennett. He lived in Dublin and in Jaffrey throughout his life and had attended local schools.
Fred served his country honorably in the United States Army. He worked at D.D. Bean and Sons in Jaffrey for over 30 years and had also worked at Millipore in Jaffrey briefly.
Family was Fred’s top priority and he always loved spending time with his grandchildren and most recently, his first great-granddaughter. He also enjoyed riding his motorcycle and fishing whenever possible, and also liked playing cards.
Fred was married to Irene D. Pelkey who died on December 23, 2005. He was also predeceased by his sisters, Mary Hartwell, Annie Pelkey and Catherine Berry; and by his brothers, Walter Bennett, Jr. and Stanley Bennett.
He is survived by his daughter Belinda D. Bennett of Dublin; his son Brian J. Bennett of Jaffrey; his granddaughters, Cheyenne Bennett, Brianna Ascani and Alexis Hutchinson; his great-granddaughter Cadence Bennett; his sisters, Jacqueline Lucas, Judith Bernier and Susan Porter, all of Jaffrey, Pauline Ouellette of Dublin; his twin brother, Albion Bennett of Lisbon, Iowa, his brothers Anthony and Carl Bennett, both of Dublin, Clarence Bennett of Jaffrey, and Edward Bennett of South Carolina, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and close friends.
Friends and family are warmly invited to Calling hours on Friday, August 1, 2014 from 10:00 to 11:30 AM at the Cournoyer Funeral Home and Cremation Center, 33 River Street (Route 202 South), Jaffrey. A funeral service will begin at 11:30 AM in the funeral home chapel. Rev. Wilfred Deschamps, Pastor of Saint Patrick Parish will officiate. Burial with Military Honors will follow at Saint Patrick Cemetery on Hillcrest Road in Jaffrey.
