Fred Louis Cournoyer, age 66 years, of Dunedin, Florida died February 17, 2021 at the Suncoast Hospice Foundation of Palm Harbor after a brief illness.
Fred was born in Clearwater Florida to the late Fred and Virginia Cournoyer. He is also preceded in death by his former wife, Darlene Weisgarber, mother of their daughter, his wife Ruth Purdy and his brother John Cournoyer. He is survived by his daughter Jessica Cournoyer of Grass Valley, CA, and siblings, Sharon Cournoyer of Pittsboro, NC, Kevin Cournoyer of Bellingham, WA, Jim, Michael and Bill Cournoyer of Clearwarter, Florida.
In his younger days, his passion was sports: baseball, football, dirt bike racing and water skiing to include a stint with the Cypress Gardens ski team. He worked in construction most of his life and later enjoyed creating whimsical garden stepping stones.
Fred was a sweet soul with a quick wit, infectious smile and a compassionate heart. His eyes always told a story. He had a special place in his heart for his many Golden Retrievers, and was looking forward to welcoming his first grandchild in May. His daughter is confident that his beautiful spirit will shine through his grandson.
The family wishes to thank the caring staff at Morton Plant Hospital and the Suncoast Hospice Center of Palm Harbor.
Contributions in Fred’s honor can be made to the Suncoast Hospice Foundation.
A Celebration of Life will take place outdoors at 1pm, Sunday March 7, 2021 at the family park.
